Shoe Review

Brooks Adrenaline ASR GTX

Adrenaline ASR GTX

Men: 8 – 15 Width D
Women: 6 – 11 Width B

A highly supportive technical running shoe with all the added benefits of a trail shoe, the adrenaline (both ASR / GTX version and Standard running version) is a great shoe if you’re looking for support, cushioning and comfort.

The Upper has a breathable waterproof gore-tex membrane that provides the ultimate protection from the elements. It has a very comfortable fit through the heel , midfoot and forefoot and even comes in a 2A for a very narrow foot. A profile sock liner, adjustable saddle construction and stretch eyelets lock into the medial side to hold the foot in better. I found the lace configuration stable and non slipping adding to the great fit and feel.

A midsole combining anatomical Brookes DNA, "a first of its kind technology" which automatically adapts to the runners weight , gait and speed. The DNA sole reacts to the amount of force placed on the foot and disperses pressure evenly as required.
I trained for and ran in a half marathon in this shoe and the cushioning was definitely a notable feature. Full length Bio Mogo for the environmentally conscience and great underfoot flex and fit provide a very comfortable ride through toe off and propulsion and encouraging a stable and more natural gait pattern. The heel Caterpillar crash pad technology customises flex to the runner’s unique lay down.

The outsole combining HPR Plus, a highly durable abrasion resistant rubber, and HPR green - a premium wet-dry dispersed silica provides the shoe with excellent skid resistance. I never felt a slip effect on any surface nor in any weather.

Overall I have found this shoe to be very comfortable, stable and reliable shoe over short and long distance running. Any runner should feel confident on any surface from wet or dry ground, grass sand asphalt etc. I wear plastic orthotics and they fit the shoe well having no problems with depth and slippage . The shoe would also suit a carbon fibre or Foam devices in the fit. The upper definitely stands up to its waterproof claims keeping both lining/orthotics and feet dry in nearly all conditions.

Suits a Pronated Foot type.
